- Stein, Gertrude
- (1874-1946)Born in Allegheny, Pennsylvania, the writer studied at Harvard University and in 1904 moved to Paris with her brother, Leo. Although Paris remained her place of residence, she was an American who wrote about America. Notable among her many plays are What Happened, a Play (1913), Ladies Voices (1922), Four Saints in Three Acts (1927), and The Mother of Us All (1946).
